About Beyond the Covers Events

Hi, I'm Kitty! I run Beyond the Covers, a literary event production company in Houston (and soon-to-be mobile bookstore focused on serving book deserts in East Texas!).

Through my community events, my goal is to help Houston's bookish community find their people - providing readers with a third space and low-pressure hang outs, such as bookish movie nights, silent reading parties, cozy gaming and craft nights, and more.

Through my shopping events, my goal is to spotlight and champion Houston's incredible diversity of indie bookstores, authors, artists and artisans, and bookish small businesses. Every shopping event also has a fundraising component, and I partner with local nonprofits to raise awareness (and funds!) for some incredible causes.

Because originality is central to my mission, I do ask all applicants to disclose if and how AI is used in their creative process (proofreading, brainstorming, product marketing, etc.). While AI tools may support parts of your workflow, work that relies primarily on AI-generated content may not be the best fit for my events.
