What's on - Week of September 28th

My Picks

Obviously I'm plugging my own (free) event, a Hunger Games craft night and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes movie night at Social Beer Garden on Wednesday, September 30th. Crafts start at 6:30, and the movie will be shown out back on the big screen starting at 7:30 PM. This is a great way to get ready for Sunrise on the Reaping coming out in November, since this movie is the one that comes before that one in chronological order.

The Friends of the Houston Public Library Book Warehouse Sale is back! This Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM at 6510 W. Little York Rd. 77040, you’ll find: $3 Adult Hardbacks, $2 Adult Paperbacks, $1 Children’s & Young Adult Books, $1 DVDs, CDs, Vinyl, and Audiobooks.

Houston Arboretum & Nature Center's Fall Plant Sale is happening Friday and Saturday. They will have around 250 species of Texas native grasses, wildflowers, trees, and shrubs for you to peruse, including 5 different species of native milkweed. Learn more, view the full plant list, and get helpful tips at houstonarboretum.org

Last but not least, the Houston Cinema Arts Festival returns October 1–11, bringing a dynamic lineup of curated feature films to venues across Houston, including the MFAH’s Brown Auditorium Theater and Lynn Wyatt Theater. Experience stories that reflect the rich diversity and cultural spirit of our city. Learn more about showtimes, tickets, and films at mfah.org
