August update: bookmobile renovation progress!

Hi all! Quick update on the progress of our bookmobile:

Looking forward to August, we have a few big projects left - including removing the passenger seat, repairing some outdoor lights, updating the exterior paint, getting our new logo design, ordering merch, additional brake repairs, removing old carpets and prepping the subfloors, and last but not least: installing new flooring. 

The new flooring has been ordered from the UK and it's GORGEOUS, but it's also on hold and won't be delivered until Mid-August. I'm hoping to get that installed quickly once it arrives and be able to hold our grand opening in time for Labor Day Weekend! 

I may be biased, but I think she's looking really great! I've gotten all of the bookshelves cleaned and prepped, have updated and restored all the countertops and the indoor air conditioning covers, steam cleaned upholstery, updated the florescent box lighting, installed a new POS system, removed and replaced one set of outdoor steps, and have acquired and begun entering over 2000 new titles for inventory! 

And speaking of inventory: I'm excited to announce that I'm planning to have a section dedicated entirely to local authors. I'm still working out exact details, but will be setting up an author interest form and sending it out hopefully with next week's newsletter. Make sure you're signed up for emails if you'd like to get this update. 

I'm also super excited to announce the "Beyond the Covers Lending Library." As I'm planning to serve book deserts, this section will include a selection of books, games, activity kits, and more that our customers can borrow for a limited time. I plan to offer this service with a low-fee refundable deposit hold for items, and will announce full details for the program as we get closer to opening.
