We've got tags! Bookmobile Update (Oct 26)

Read on for a quick update on the bookmobile progress!

The good news: The bus is registered in Texas! 

If you read my last update, then you know I hit a bit of a snag with the Harris County Tax Assessors when attempting to transfer title from Alabama to Texas.

After a lot of back and forth, I got Texas plates and tags - and the HCTA processed my title transfer application, but I'm still waiting to hear if it will be approved without the unladen weight certificate.

Fingers crossed - the HCTA director told me over email that I did not need to unload the bus and get a weight certificate since I was able to provide photo evidence of the manufacturer's certificate of max weight - but then when I went for my appointment, the tax agent said that the information in the email was incorrect and that while they were going to go ahead and process it for me, the application still might be rejected without the weight certificate. So. We wait and see. 

Save the Date (again) for Grand Opening - November 21st! 

Now that we're street legal, I can confidently pick a date for our grand opening! Save the date for November 21st - with more details on the opening day party to follow. In the meantime, I'll be working on getting my general business liability and inland marine insurance - and dog sitting for my Dad while he visits family and friends back in the Carolinas. We'll also be celebrating his 70th birthday!
